Mixed Doubles 2022

First names on new trophy –

Ten teams took part in the first Mixed Doubles competition organised by the JPA at the Jersey Petanque Club terrains on 9th July, and after three initial rounds, the top eight faced off in the quarter finals, with Cassie Stewart & Ross Payne beating Jean Stewart & Paul Bell; Joy & Derek Hart losing to Christine Eccles & Paul Waters; Wendy Ritzema & Gary Cowburn winning against Ella-Jay Limbrick & Alan Lahiffe; Dawn Buckley & Brian Harris beating Brigitte & Dave Ibitson.

In the semi-finals, Cassie & Ross beat Dawn & Brian 13- 4 and Wendy & Gary won against Christine & Paul 13-5.

The third place play-off was a long and tense game with the early lead of Christine & Paul being pegged back by Dawn & Brian who took the bronze medals 13-10 .

In the final, Ross’ firing proved the decisive factor in his and Cassie’s win over Wendy & Gary 13-6, meaning that Cassie & Ross are the first names on the new trophy.

The next competition is the Open Triples at Carrefour on the new date of 3rd September – please get your entries in for that and the Veterans Triples on 8th October – entry form is on the “Documents” page.
