Overview
Pétanque Jersey, founded in 2004, is the governing body of the sport of pétanque in the island of Jersey and is affiliated to both the Fédération Internationale Pétanque et Jeu Provençal, the world governing body and the Confédération Européenne de Pétanque, the Continental Confederation for the sport in Europe.
Pétanque Jersey is run by a General Committee, which currently consists of a Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Competitions Officer, Youth Development Officer, Publicity Officer and a representative from each of the affiliated clubs.
Clubs
There are four affiliated clubs in Jersey, as well as independent members who do not belong to a club. At the end of 2021, membership of the JPA stood at over 500.
Leagues & Competitions
The four affiliated clubs run their own competitions and the JPA organise three leagues (below).
Since 2016 Jersey has taken part in the Home Nations competition, an annual event involving England, Scotland & Wales.
The JPA first sent a team to take part in the European Men’s Triples in 2013 and has taken part in European competition each year since, being represented in Men’s & Women’s Singles, Doubles and Triples, Veterans Triples and in 2018 a team representing Jersey took part in the World Men’s Triples competition in Canada.
Finally, closer to home, a Jersey team regularly competes against Guernsey in the Annual Inter-Insular.
