The second of this year’s Island Championships – the Men’s & Women’s Triples, took place at the Weighbridge Terrains on Saturday 6th June.
The women’s event saw four teams enter and Wendy Ritzema, Christine Eccles and Katrina Holden were hoping to make it three titles in a row, but their hopes were ended by Judy Dove, Joy Hart and Bridie Hunter who took top spot, with Wendy, Christine & Katrina second. Third place was taken by Danielle Alsop, Judy Andrews-Callec & Margaret Robinson.

Fourteen teams entered the mens event and after four timed rounds and quarter-finals and semi-finals, the final got to 12 all and in the last end with one boule left for each side, Matt Pinel fired out the opposition’s holding boule leaving Toby Northern to play his side’s last boule. He missed by inches meaning the trophy was claimed by Matt, Callum Stewart and Geoffroy Buffetrille. Toby, Alan Oliveria and Matt Ryan had to settle for the runner’s up spot with Andrew Bellamy-Burt, Jake Romeril and Laurent Pellaton winning the third place play-off against James Genoe, Ross Payn & Neil Selby.
The teams that finished ninth & tenth after the first rounds played a “Plate Final” and Steve Foster, Derek Hart & Steve Harvey were beaten by Keith Lajoie, Bradley Andrews-Callec & Cliff Andrews-Callec.
