Men’s & Women’s Doubles 2023

The third in this year’s Island Championships took place at the Carrefour terrains on Saturday 24th June. Eleven teams took part in the men’s event and six in the Women’s.

In the Women’s competition, each pair played the other five and the winners, with five wins out of five, were Cassie Le Gallais-Stewart and Jean Stewart. Second with three wins, plus 13 were last year’s champions, Christine Eccles & Wendy Ritzema and in third place, were Lorna Limbrick & Nicky Maindonald with 2 wins, plus 10.

In the Men’s event, two groups of six & five played each other in their groups and the top two in each went through to the semi-finals, which saw top of group A, Alan Lahiffe & Mat Scholefield with four wins plus 18 play runners-up in group B, Andy Bellamy-Burt & Callum Stewart, three wins plus 9. In the other semi-final, winner group B, Toby Northern & Laurent Pellaton, four wins plus 23 played runners-up in group A, Geoffroy Buffetrille & Matt Pinel, four wins plus 17.

Alan & Mat had a very efficient 13-0 win over Callum & Andy and Toby & Laurent beat Geoffroy & Matt, 13-5. In the third-place play off, Andy & Callum beat Geoffroy & Matt 13-4 and the final saw Toby & Laurent take the title over Alan & Mat 13-2, giving Toby his fourth JPA Men’s doubles title.
