The 2024 Open Triples event, sponsored by Integritas Wealth partners and Snap, took place on Saturday 14th September at the Jersey Petanque Club Terrains.
Ten teams took part, with four timed rounds to decide the semi-finalists, who were Geoffroy Buffetrille, Matt Buesnel & Laurent Pellaton, who won all four qualifying games with a score of plus 43. Winning three games each and joining them in the semis, were Wendy Ritzema, Gary Cowburn & Brian Harris; Paul Waters, Christine Eccles & Keith Boleat and last year’s winners, Alan Lahiffe, Keith Lajoie & Jake Romeril.
Geoffroy, Laurent & Matt had a convincing 13-2 win over Alan, Keith & Jake in their semi, but Wendy, Gary & Brian did even better, inflicting a fanny on Paul, Christine & Keith.
Those three however put in a better show in the third place game, beating Alan, Keith & Jake 13-8. The final was a much tighter affair, with the teams at 9 all, Geoffroy, Matt & Laurent scooped the championship 13-9, regaining the trophy that they won in 2021 and 2022.
