Inter-Parish Petanque League

St Brelade Champions

– It wasn’t the Beast from the East but the Best from the West, when St Brelade took the 2022 Inter-Parish title on Wednesday 30th December. The end of the season could not have worked out better if it had been scripted – going into the last game, between St Brelade and St Saviour, the latter were one point ahead, meaning that St Brelade had to win; a draw would see St Saviour take the trophy for the fourth year in a row.

After the first round of doubles, St Brelade were 2-1 up. St Saviour won the fourth doubles but lost the singles, meaning that the score before the triples was 2-3 to the holders. The St Brelade triple of Joan & Dennis Le Mercier & Joy Hart took the triples and with it the match and title.

Congratulations to St Brelade, who are the sixth parish to have their name on the trophy, joining St Ouen, St Lawrence, St John, St Mary & St Saviour.
