The second event in the Island Championships calendar took place at the Jersey Petanque Club terrains on Saturday 10th June.
In the Women’s event, five teams played a round-robin competition and the winners were Judy Dove, Joy Hart & Bridie Hunter with three wins, plus 19. In second place were last year’s winners, Nicky Maindonald, Cassie Stewart-Le Gallais & Jean Stewart, with three wins plus 2. The bronze medals went to Alice Dilks, Brigitte Ibitson & Elaine Paisnel, with two wins, plus 10.

In the Men’s competition, two groups of four played three games and the top two in each group went through to the semi-finals. Geoffroy Buffetrille, James Gennoe & Ross Payne beat Alan Lahiffe, Andy Limbrick & Mat Scholefield 13-7 and Andy Bellamy-Burt, Laurent Pellaton & Callum Stewart beat Toby Northern, Jake Romeril & Neil Selby by the same margin.
The third place play-off saw Alan, Andy & Mat beat Toby, Jake & Neil 13-9 and in the final, the 2023 champions were Andy, Laurent & Callum, who triumphed over Geoffroy, James & Ross 13-5, although the scoreline did not reflect the quality of the game.
