JPA Summer League KO Cup

PES PC Retain KO Trophy

– The final of the KO Cup took place at St Mary’s terrains on Saturday 27th September.

In the first round of doubles, Matt Pinel & Jeremy Grigg (Grantez), beat Ross Payne & Jake Romeril 13-9 and Andy Bellamy-Burt & Callum Stewart (PES PC), came back from 8-1 down to beat Geoffroy Buffetrille & Toby Northern 13-8.

In the second round, Callum & Andy beat Matt & Jeremy 13-6 and Ross & Jake made up for their first round loss with a convincing 13-2 win over Toby & Geoffroy.

With the score at 3-1 for PES and a points difference of 19, Grantez needed two high scoring difference wins to claim the trophy on points. With the Grantez triples team of Matt, Geoffroy & Jeremy beating Jake, Ross & Callum 13-1, the come-back looked possible when Toby took a 6-4 lead. However, Andy stormed back to take the game 13-7 giving PES the match 4-2 and meant they retained the trophy won last year.
