Trinity Top the Table
Two parishes who ended last season in the nether regions of the Inter Parish League find themselves vying for top spot after the first four games of the new season. It’s a remarkable turnaround for Trinity who finished in eleventh place last time around, but who find themselves at the top of the table with a marginally better points record than Grouville, both parishes having won three and drawn one of their games.
In their latest matches, Trinity beat St John at home 4-2 while Grouville pulled off the result of the week winning 4-2 away to the current league champions, St Saviour. In doing so, they handed St Saviour their first defeat of the season. Last year’s runners-up, St Brelade, have also suffered one defeat but have won the rest of their matches putting them in third place. In their most recent game, they won 5-1 away to St Clement, who now share bottom spot with St Helier. The latter went down by a similar margin, at home to St Lawrence.
St Peter lifted themselves off the foot of the table thanks to a 5-1 win at home to St Martin while the only drawn game in the latest round of matches was at St Ouen where St Mary who were down 3-2 took the triples to make it honours even.
