Inter-Insular 2023

Jersey Retain Inter-Insular Trophy

Team Guernsey arrived in the island on Saturday 26th August at the second attempt, after their crossing was cancelled on 22nd July.

The first round of 12 singles saw Jersey take an 8-4 lead, which was extended after the first doubles round, to 18-6 with Jersey winning five out of the six games. After lunch, the second doubles round produced a similar result, meaning Jersey had an unassailable lead of 28-8. The triples round ended with Jersey winning three out of the four games, giving a final tally of Jersey 37 to Guernsey 11. Ignoring the scoreline, the day produced great games between two strong teams, proving that there is more that unites the islands than separates them.

Next year’s event will be in Guernsey where team Jersey will hope to produce an equally good performance.
