European Competition 2022

The JPA have decided that teams will not be sent to European competition in 2022. Several of the island’s top players are unavailable for competition this year and the association is not confident of sending sufficient players of a high enough calibre to compete successfully against European competition.

Following a difficult two years of restricted activity the association will now concentrate on a programme of training and development with the aim of producing, by the end of this year, an elite squad of players from whom teams will be chosen to represent the island in the European competitions taking place in 2023, 2024 and beyond. The aim will be to have a team picked at least six to nine months prior to the relevant international competition, allowing that team to prepare properly for the event. The association’s aim is also to ensure that a full-strength team is sent to every competition, including a manager and coach.
