East versus West

East bests West

– In what it is hoped will be an annual event, 48 of the islands players battled it out on Sunday 2nd June to see if west is best or if east are the beasts.

Twelve teams from each side of the island played four games in different parishes to decide the top two teams in each half of Jersey.

In the west, Derek & Joy Hart finished with four wins and close behind them were Bridie & David Hunter and Ellis Turmel & John Lane, both with three. Bridie & David went through to the semi-finals by virtue of a better points difference where they beat Joy & Derek in a close game, 13-11.

The east produced three teams with four wins, Geoffroy Buffetrille & Laurent Pellaton, Matt Pinel & James Romeril and Brian Harris & Colin Myers. Brian & Colin just missed out on points difference so the other two teams met to decide the finalist. Laurent & Geoffroy beat James & Matt 13-4 and then went on to take the honours against Bridie & David by 13 to 6.

Geoffroy & Laurent – first                                       David & Bridie – second

Equal third – Derek & Joy Hart and James Romeril (Matt Pinel there in spirit)
