The 2024 Men’s & Women’s Doubles competition was held at the Weighbridge terrains, home of the Liberation Petanque Club, on Saturday 17th August. Thanks are due to the Liberation Club for preparing the Terrains and our sponsors, Snap and Integritas Wealth Partners.
Four teams took part in the Women’s event, with each double playing the other three twice. First, with five wins, plus 25 were the 2022 Champions, Christine Eccles & Wendy Ritzema. Second were Jean Stewart and Cassie Stewart-Le Gallais, last year’s winners, with four wins, plus 9 and third were Judy Dove & Joy Hart, three wins plus 12.

Nine teams entered the Men’s competition, with five timed rounds deciding the semi-final places, which saw Alan Lahiffe & Mat Scholefield, play Geoffroy Buffetrille & James Gennoe and Gary Cowburn & Brian Harris play Toby Northern & Laurent Pellaton.
Gary & Brian beat Toby & Laurent 13-2 and Alan & Mat had a closer game, finally losing to Geoffroy & James, 10-13.
The third place game saw Toby & Laurent beat Alan & Mat 13-4 and James & Geoffroy go one better, winning 13-3.
